The Cape Cod

Restaurant Information
1150 Solano Avenue
Albany, CA, 94706
(510) 528-3308

Waiting time
Rita says: The restaurant was pretty empty when we entered. Only a few patrons were there - they were mostly older cliente. The waitress quickly sat us down and handed us the menus in a timely manner. However, this place is definitely not a good place to have a quick lunch, the waitress(although super nice and accommodating with fantastic earrings) took 30 mins to give us our check. I had to chase her down and do the "check please" hand gesture too. The whole lunch took 2 hours to finish - Whoops. Hopefully my boss didn't notice. =/
The Food
The lunch menu allows you to have a choice of soup of the day or salad with your entree. The soup that was offered that day was clam chowder and onion soup. The salad was garden spring mix with a choice of vinaigrette, blue cheese or ranch. Depending on the entree, you would either get saffron rice and vegetables or french fries and vegetables.
The bill was about $12 per person.

Food Pictures

Grilled Chicken Sandwich
Mike says: Not being a fan of seafood, I had doubts about going to this restaurant, and was glad that there was some non-seafood items on the menu. This sandwich was good, although there was nothing to really make it stand out from the average chicken sandwich.

Grilled Garlic Prawns
Kitzie says: The prawns were excellent. Veggies were bland - but there may have been a reason for that - the older patrons. Rice was okay. But the prawns were great and they were pretty cheap. Look below - at the empty bowls - to see another of the really good dishes: chocolate mousse. Yummy!

Calamari Steak
Sam: I was surprised by the like-butter tenderness of the steak. On top of it were garlic and green onions(?). It was yummy but I would have like it more if it were tougher. The veggies and saffron rice were okay.

Calamari Fingers
Rita says: I had the fried calamari fingers with french fries, vegetables and clam chowder. The clam chowder was not what I'm normally used to. (WHY ARE THERE ONIONS IN THE SOUP? WHY?! WHERE ARE THE CLAM AND CHUNKY POTATO GOODNESS? WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE CLAM IN MY SOUP?) The calamari fingers were pretty good and the fries were fat and crispy. The vegetables were carrots, peas and zucchini that seemed to be boiled soft with no seasoning at all - maybe that's why this restaurant attracted older customers.

Eaten Chocolate Mousse
Sorry guys, we attacked the mousse before we could think twice to take a picture.
FANTASIC CHOCOLATE MOUSSE. I'd come here again, just for the mousse.

Bathroom
There is a separate men's and women's bathroom with one toilet and sink each, but they were scary. Kind of had that Saw movie - dirty tile with dim lights and sewer drain in the middle of the room look
